Maryom, originally from Peru, lives and works as a freelance artist in Cologne.
She is a trained wood sculptor and focuses in her works primarily on sculptures and three-dimensional works.
Her art is characterized by both European and South American influences and is mostly urban in style.
Her sculptures and other works often explore human emotions, which find expression in various ways.
She incorporates events of life into her work, events that are redefined during the creative process.
Maryom gives free rein to her feelings and is often guided by impulses. Thus, her works always tell a story with all its many
facets and emotions.
Most recently, she has been intensively exploring the themes of femininity and womanhood.
One thing all of her works have in common; They incorporate wood as a
representational and living material, because they are meant to be alive and to manifest feelings such as pain, grief, despair,
fear, anger, joy, and happiness.
Since April 2025, she has been a co-owner of the Cologne-based “Galerie daneben.”
